Ok so my stay at comfort suites wasnt the best. It first started with my check in. I walked in and there was an unkempt heavier woman behind the counter on a cell phone. No big deal really, i checked in and she swiped my Visa card, i asked if it was ok to pay cash, and she said it wouldnt be a problem at check out as they only preauthorize the card. I went to ask her another question when all of a sudden a little girl pops up from behind the counter, ( about 6 years old). That was weird in its self, i didnt notice a daycare on the property!
The room was great, big and spacious, and my actual stay was good. I checked out the next day and dealt with the same woman, this time she had on a shirt with a stain on it. Dont these hotels require uniforms?? I reminded her that i wanted to pay cash and she said no problem.
Lets fast forward a week, i notice that there is still a pending charge on my Visa from the hotel. I called the hotel and they said that the preauthorization takes 2-5 days to come off the card. thats all good and dandy but this is a full week later, they then looked into my file and said that they did not realize it was a Visa DEBIT card and it could take 15 or more days for the hold to be lifted. I was upset, why didnt that woman tell me upon check in that the funds would be held for 15 days?? If i was informed i would have paid cash right then and there
i will probably not stay there again as i find the staff to be uninformed, and unkept. Maybe if they didnt have kids with them they would have more time to learn the rules and regulations of their hotel.
my money was released 18 days later, but for not being informed of that hold, it sure put me in a bind.
