Unauthorized charge

Hotel is charging me for a room for April 3rd, 2011 which I never booked. This is the 2nd time.

I had booked a room in 2010 for April 3rd. At the time it was Comfort Inn.

I received an email from Comfort Inn saying the hotel had changed hands and if I would like to cancel I should contact the new hotel directly.

I called Detroit Regency hotel directly and cancelled the room. I had both the confirmation numbers (booking and cancellation)

I noticed a charge of $108.96 on my Mastercard bill on April 16th 2010. I called the hotel directly and spoke to the manager. He looked into the matter and called me back within 2 days. He apologized for the error that was made. He said they accidently billed me for a room the following week. He also acknowledged my original booking was cancelled for April 3rd 2010.

He made the correction and credited my Master Card on April 23rd..

So this is not the first time I have had difficulties with this hotel billing me for a room that I never booked.

I have called the hotel twice this month. I informed them they are billing me for the April 3rd2010 room. A computer mistake has occurred.

The hotel claims it cannot happen and claims they will look into it.

I had originally emailed them on April 8th and called them on April 11th. I called again on April 13th and they wanted me to forward the original email from April 8th.

Looks like they were not investigating the issue.

Also, how can a hotel have my personal info and credit card info in their system one year after the cancellation on April 3rd 2010. That's why this error has occurred.
