Great cars and Trucks,
I was solicited by a telemarketer who I suspect got my number from an add I placed in the auto-trader. I was told that I would be guaranteed that my vehicle would sell within 90 days or I would receive a full refund. I foolishly agreed to let them advertise my vehicle for a charge of $165.
After getting off the phone, it occured to me that since I also had the vehicle listed with 2 other advertising companies, it would likely sell but not necessarily by them. I immediately called them back to cancel my add because I suspected that they make a good part of their business out of client's selling their vehicles through other avenues but wasn't able to reach anyone, just the answering machine. I left a message stating that I wanted to cancel the add. No one returned my call.
I called back first thing in the morning and was able to reach someone this time and asked them to cancel the add since at this point it still wasn't listed. I was told that they could not refund my credit card because their billing system doesn't allow them to do that (never hear of that before). I was told once again that after 90 days, if the vehicle hadn't sold, I could claim a refund so this was the route I felt I had no other choice but to take.
I was on vacation the week my add expired but called them immediately upon my return about obtaining my refund. I was told I'd have to get the form off their website, which I did. Once I printed and read the form, I realized I had to get it notarized and it had to be submitted within 7 days of the expiration date of the add which was the following day. I was never told about this policy and just expected that after 90 days, my credit card would be refunded. I was not able to get the form notarized in time but was able to get in done within the next few days. I submitted it anyway assuming that they would be reasonable in issuing a refund. I was very wrong.
After receiving a letter stating that my refund application was received past the deadline, I called them and as was told that I would not be receiving a refund.
I find Great Cars and Trucks to be very misleading and completely unethical. I have and will continue to warn anyone I know about their business policies and lack of customer service. I'm amazed they've stayed in business this long and will be contacting my credit card company to pursue an investigation.
