Great Cars And Trucks
Ripoff intentional lies to avoid paying their moneyback gaurantee

To whom it may concern,

The purpose of this report is to bring awareness of organizations such as www.greatcarsandtrucks.com and www.vehiclesforsale.ca who offer a service of selling vehicles but have no marketing strategy behind them to actually sell vehicles and who offer money-back guarantees to attract customers but fail to live up to those promises.

On August 10th I was contacted by telephone by a lady from Great Cars and Trucks who had seen that my ad in Autotrader had just expired and asked me if my vehicle sold. I told her it was still available and she promised that her business could sell it or my money would be returned after 90 days. It sounded like a good deal. They would advertise on their website and I was told that after ninety days all I would have to do if the vehicle didn't sell was fill in a form which I could print from their website and send it to them along with a photocopy of my vehicle registration because according to this sales lady "we believe that if you still have your vehicle registration you still have the vehicle". Well, after 90 days I never received one call after reducing the price twice by a substantial amount. I printed the Money Back Guarantee form, completed it as I was instructed and made a copy of my vehicle registration. On the form it stated that it had to be "notarized".

Previously, when I had talked with the sales lady I questioned this and she said that all I have to do is fill in the form and send it with a copy of my vehicle registration because "we believe that if you still have your vehicle registration you still have the vehicle". I was a little suspicious of this and sent off an e-mail on November 12 to the lady whom I was told was in charge of money-backs, to verify the proper procedure. I never received a reply, so I sent in the completed form and the copy of the vehicle registration. After two weeks I noticed that my credit card had not been credited and the vehicle was still advertised on the website. Still, no calls were received from prospective buyers at the reduced price. So, I called the receptionist and asked to talk with the person who does the money-backs or the manager. I was told that the former only works 3 hours per week and she doesn't know when she will be in next and the manager comes and goes as he pleases and she doesn't know when he will be in next but she took my phone number and promised that someone would call.

I did this again after a couple of days and again in a few more days. No one called; the receptionist didn't know anything about the business or her co-workers schedule. The following day I again called and surprisingly the money-back lady was going to be in the office at 7:30 PM. I called at 7:45 and was told "she isn't in tonight". I told her that I had called earlier in the day and she was supposed to be in at 7:30. "OK", she says, "she should be in at 8:00". "She called and said that she would be in a little later." It became apparent that they were trying to avoid money-backs in all manners.

Finally, when I did talk with the money-back lady she said that I didn't qualify because my form was not notarized by a lawyer or notary public. I argued with her that I had been told that all I had to do is fill in the form and send it to them along with a copy of the vehicle registration in the week immediately after the 90 days. It became apparent that her and her company were not interested in me anymore now that they had my $100 and didn't care about future business should I ever have another vehicle to sell.

In closing, I strongly believe that this company and possibly similar ones simply register a website with no intention of marketing their website or services and only pick up customers through telemarketing schemes such as this, offering a money-back guarantee which may only be granted at your expense of a lawyer's fee.
