I purchased this product on January 15th of 2006 and promptly sent in the documentation requested for a thirty dollar rebate on the 17th. I waited approximately 3 months and when nothing happened I contacted Logitech's rebate center. I got a recorded message saying that they just received the rebate a month prior and that I would have to wait for another four weeks. I pretty much thought they were lying but gave them the benefit of the doubt. Finally on June 7th I became fed up with their lack of attention to the rebate so I e-mailed them to ask what was going on. Here's the response I received:
Dear Logitech Consumer:
Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding the status of your rebate. Our records indicate a valid rebate is currently being processed. A check will be issued and mailed to you upon completion of processing.
REBATE AMOUNT: 30.00
I couldn't believe it! Almost six months after purchase and they were just processing the request. I replied to the e-mail and told them that 6 months is enough time to wait for a small thirty dollar rebate and if I didn't receive said rebate in two weeks I'd be contacting the BBB, several consumer complaint sites and taking other action.
The bottom line is that whether they give me the rebate or not, I won't be buying anymore Logitech products. I've also made sure to mention to as many people as I can the underhanded way in which they treat their customers regarding rebates, which will include an entry or two at Web sites like usaconsumercomplaints.com. In fact, I've sworn off rebates for good as this behavior regarding rebates seems to be the norm now and not the exception. It's shameful the way some companies treat their customers and Logitech is leading the pack in poor customer service performance.
