I just found this site and have read the two comments about bad service at this salon (and the obviously fake defence of the salon; sounds like the owner himself.)
I stopped by the Eaton Centre, killing time while waiting for a friend who was at a hospital nearby. A slim, shortish man came out of the salon while I was at the store across the way and said he was the owner and that he would give me a free consultation on a good hairstyle.
Let me say now, I have (had) really long hair. My pride and joy, it was almost waist length and curly and isn't layered or anything with no bangs. I told him that I wasn't interested in a new style but that I could use a trim. I asked him to take an inch to an inch and a half off the whole thing. He agreed to do it.
About halfway through the haircut he started telling me that I should get layers. I said I'd consider it but that I liked my hair right now. Then he started to suggest that it be cut MUCH shorter. He got kind of weird, insisting that it would look best. After telling him that I REALLY liked my long hair he finished the haircut. When he showed me that back I almost cried. I thought my head was feeling light. He cut my hair to an inch from my shoulders!
He then insisted that I had asked for the short haircut. Another customer who was seated nearby had heard my insistance on keeping my long hair and he defended me but it was too late for my hair. The owner threatened to call security if I didn't pay for the haircut (which was WAY overpriced). I refused and walked out. No security guard came for me so I assume he was just trying to bluff.
I guess that he was trying to pressure me to layers or short hair when he accidentally cut my hair too short (although you have to be an idiot to cut a foot of hair "accidentally".
Anyway, I have told all my friends about my experience and I hope that no one goes to this salon. You're endangering your hair!
