Nino D'Arena Hair Salon
Rip-off ruined my hair & called security when I complained

I needed a new look for an upcoming event at my first real job. No salon had room, so, when a stylist at Nino D'Arena offered to see me immediately, I said yes.

I told the stylist that I needed a colour somewhat similar to my natural one (light brown) and a trim. The stylist agreed. I specifically told him not to layer my hair, to do a blunt cut instead because I wanted a really low maintenence haircut.

After putting the dye on, he put me under one of those big over-the-head dryers for a few minutes. He pushed my head so far in, my hair got caught. I told him this before he removed the dryer. He nodded and then proceeded to rip my hair out of the dryer. After washing off the dye (my hair was now a light brown with platinum streaks), he cut my hair.

I can only assume the hair on the back of my head was shredded because he proceeded to give me a "Jennifer Aniston 5 years ago" haircut. When my hair dried I looked like an Aniston wannabe. But I figured it was better than nothing. After all, it must be "low-maintenance" since I had asked for a simple cut.

The next day (a Saturday), after washing my hair, I found it had turned a weird orange colour, instead of the light brown I had left the salon with the day before. I also could not make my "low-maintenance" haircut do anything no matter how hard I tried.

I went back to Nino D'Arena on the Monday to complain. I spoke to the manager who tried to tell me that A) my hair was orange when I left on Friday and B) no haircut is really low maintenance and it was normal to have to spend half and hour and a bottle of hairspray to get your hair to behave.

A friend of the stylist who did my hair stood up to the manager and told him that my hair must have changed colour over the weekend and offered to fix it for me.

So he did, at least the colour, I was stuck with the bad cut. Except he got it wrong too, leaving me looking very goth with very dark brown hair. (Also, the steaks were now only on the top of my hiar and they had turned kind of grey with the dark dye. And the new stylist drenched the back of my shirt when he washed out the dye.)

He assured me that most of the colour would wash out that night in the shower, leaving me with light brown hair (and grey streaks! Lovely!) It didn't wash out. (Surprise!!!)

I went back the next day (a Tuesday) and asked to speak to the manager again. I tiold him that I didn't want ALL my money back (I had paid $200), but I felt that I deserved at least $150. The manager laughed and told me no one could please me. It certainly wasn't his fault.

I then asked for his name (so I could start action against him). He refused to give it to me and told me to get off his property. He then THREW (yes, threw! It hit me in the face) a business card at me and told me to leave or he'd call security. Which he then proceeded to do.

I waited around 10 minutes for security to arrive (they never did) while he verbally abused me. I was running out of time (I was on my lunch break) so I finally left. My brother is a security guard and he went back the next day to get the guy's name (he got it... I'll ask him what it was and print it here. Also, the first guy who messed up my hair was Tony) Do not go to these people!

The owner is very disturbed and runs a bad business. It's not as if I got the cut and colour I came in for and then wasn't happy. He ruined my hair (the stress of 2 dye jobs in 3 days caused much of it to break and a bunch to fall out.) Please be warned. I am telling everyone I know. The only reason I didn't sue was the pictures I took of my hair didn't turn out so I couldn't prove it in court.
