Double charging plus! on credit card

Like Cynthia in Qualicum Beach, my mother answered an ad on TV in the U.S. and ordered Zorbeez, (Sept 08) her understanding being that the cost would be about 38 or 39$ U.S. incl S&H.

Not long after, her credit card company called to inform her that they considered there was fraudulent activity on her card: Was she aware of a charge to something called Eagle Eye for 159$? She said "No. The only outstanding charge would be to Zorbeez in the amount of about 38-39$." The company then gave her a new card number which of course required her to advise a number of auto-withdrawal utilities etc. of the change.

Soon after this a very large box arrived at her Canadian address, containing (as she puts it) enough Zorbeez to last her two lifetimes. Included was a receipt for $99 Can plus 68$ shipping! Somehow, her credit card company had made available to these people her new number! She wrote an angry letter and sent the box back, asking for her money back and being charged a further 58$ to ship the box to Toronto.

Since then, no response whatever from the company.
