After reading the approx. (at the time) 372 rip off reports, I decided to cancel my 2nd interview with Bernard Haldane and Assoc.
Oh how his eyes had lit up on that first interview when he heard the contacts and networking capabilities I had. All of my previous positions had been obtained by referral from friends rather than cold interviews. In fact I hadn't needed to interview in 16 years.
He was so impressed; he had to pull together the Board of Directors to work my candidacy. Think how expanded my head was. It is thanks I would like to give to: Rip off Report and a certain 2Lt Walsh from Toronto.
I am glad I caught this in time and would like to share below my letter of response to said company. Given the content of the letter, I pensively awaited a fever ant rebuttal but alas! it appeared they had nothing to say.
Given my letter below had Haldane's Associates been of any type of good standing they certainly would have responded.
Dear Phillip,
I regret to inform you that I will be unable to attend the meeting you have set up for both my husband and myself with your Board of Directors and VP Finance.
Having left your office with an intuitive feeling of skepticism I began to investigate the who, what etc. etc. of Bernard Haldane & Associates.
Much to my anticipation I found slanderous reports all over the Internet 372 to be exact. I do understand global firms can be victims of disgruntled clients and have the right to their defense but when I saw no attempt at rebuttal from local offices I knew there was more to the story than at present was meeting my eyes.
I began to read through the stories to see what in fact you had done to deserve these slanderous remarks and boy oh boy after reading them, I won't even waste my time on our next meeting.
I told you in our first meeting that I felt the moral fiber was leaving some the major companies. The ethical companies somewhere along the line lost the definition of what that word means. Some how, these egocentric, A typical personalities had eroded away all that myself and many colleagues had worked hard to establish over the years.
I also explained my management style to you being more nurturing and growth oriented to my staff, and that my negotiating techniques were that of win-win solutions. Did you honestly mistake my core elements as being synonymous with naive and stupid?
My husband got quite the laugh hearing that you wanted to drag him into the equation as well. People don't mind paying for that type of service if the rate is reasonable, but I can tell you, given these sales pitches, they are alluding to more than just preparing people for interviews he said
I'm sure at one time Bernard had in place good core tactics and strategies for out placement of good military men and probably charged appropriate, reasonable fees for the service he provided, that being resume writing and interviewing techniques not cloaking himself as something he was not.
I know you told me you are not an agency however you did sell networking with the promise of all your finance contacts. For the kind of money you are charging I want more than a Rolodex of local companies. I have that already and probably have more direct contacts in my given profession than your company has.
You also claimed that all of those 80% of hidden jobs came right there to your office. My question would then be, How come you do not post them and give your clients the opportunity to apply directly via your service?
I am shocked and appalled that the BBB hasn't put you out of business and I am glad however good candidates such as myself have the fore thought to check your references before paying. Your dead give away is the fact that you ask payment up front. The only others that ask for that are car sales men. I assure you once taken twice shy Thank you Nissan for that education.
Needless to say please call the board and give my apologies but I have networking to do!!!
