Bernard Haldane Associates
Close call, Always check out the company first!
Fortunately, there are sites like this where you can check out companies like Bernard Haldane Associates.I responded to their ad in the paper thinking that they were an employment agency. I was never even told that I would be charged for the service to be provided. When Mrs. Fortier told me that they worked for me, I had to ask who paid their fees and only then did she tell me that it would be me. She refused to tell me what the exact amount would be, only that it would be discussed at more length at the next interview. She said that it wouldn't be $10, 000 but it wouldn't be $2, 000 either. She made the point very clear that they had thousands of job openings and that her office had placed over 5, 000 employees. The numbers didn't make sense to me. Considering the number of years the company was in business, the number of placements were very low. Further, she was evasive about the prospective employers, the whole situation about fees and exactly what they were going to do for the fees. Inviting my wife to the second interview was also very curious.Lastly, the initial interview was very cursory. I have hired a lot of people myself and never conducted an interview like that one. Most of it seemed like a sales pitch and, according to the many reports in this site, it was.Nothing added up and I knew that I had to check this company out.Whether or not I would have gotten a job with Bernard Haldane is now irrelevant. I will not give them the chance. I just cancelled my second appointment. Thanks to this site and to all those who have written in for the heads up on Bernard Haldane Associates.MarcMontreal, Quebec
