I've seen Bernard Haldane Associates ads ever since I came to Canada over 10 years ago. I contacted them at that time, but was told they only hired for top Executive positions paying salaries 100K . I guess, as a new immigrant, I was deemed not good enough fodder. Since then I got jobs, quite a few, progressing steadily.
I still do not make a 100K, but feel I could. So, a few months ago, I submitted my application on their website. I was thrilled a few days ago when they called me to set up an interview.
I took a vacation day off. Bought myself a new briefcase. Purchased fancy letter paper and cover for my resume, and off I went this morning for my interview with Bernard Haldane Associates.
Decades ago, in India, I studied Phyics & Mathematics and the principles these taught me have guided me over the years. When Hank Kalmus showed me a Harvard study which indicated a swing in the proportion of published jobs vs. hidden jobs, but could not explain the reason for it alarm bells began to go off. When he could not explain the impact of the internet and companies being able to publish their own jobs and also job boards, dismissing them as inconsequential the bells chimed louder.
Finally, Hank (he prefers to be called by his first name) suggested that the next meeting include my wife as observer and asked me if it was okay with me. He seemed surprised when I replied that I do not make committments for my wife and gave me his card to call back once I had consulted with my wife.
Arriving home following the interview I got on to my computer, went into Google and did a search on Bernard Haldane Associates. A couple of clicks and I was into this site.
Thanks to my education, the internet & www.usaconsumercomplaints.com I was spared the loss and agony so many others seem to have gone through.
Bernard Haldane Associates has been around for a long time and I find it difficult to belive they have survived so long on ripping people off over the decades. Hank Kalmus is, by his own admission 84 years old. I suspect that Bernard Haldane & the other associates are from a similar era. My theory is that the company was successful in the past in the "old boys club" world, but the world has changed. They cannot do what they did these days. So they changed, adopting an apparently successful ripoff scheme to survive. Anyway, I'm thankful to the internet and www.usaconsumercomplaints.com for delivering me from grief.
