Bernard Haldane Associates
Ripoff

Do they think people are that dumb?...

My experience with Bernard Haldane Associates began when i saw there ad in the newspaper about a week ago. I called the phone number and was asked to send in my resume. They called me back later that day and set up an appointment for me. I assumed it was a job recruiting company or head hunter so I didn't press for more info over the phone. Next day I went to their office, really fancy place downtown Vancouver. I began to wonder what this place was about when everyone was all dressed up, and the magazines on the table in the waiting area were all issues of Forbes. The consultant that met with me was a half an hour late seeing me.

When he did bring me into his office he started interviewing me (very similar to other accounts I have read of on this site). I felt nervous at first like I was in some kind job interview. He wouldnt even tell me anything concrete about what this company actually does. He just says that they are very selective about who they will take on as a client, and only 1 in 7 people that thay meet with they will take on. He tells me that if he is interested in me he will ask me to come back for a second interview.

Okay fine, so I fill out questionaires, he goes on about hidden job market and how job ads on the ineternet and in the newspaper are usually fake and are just there for PR reasons, etc, etc. In the end he leaves the room and tells me that he is meeting with one of the employment specialists to see whether or not there maybe something they can do for me. He comes back and says that he has decided to invite me back for a second interview .. like I am so darn lucky! He then proceeds to tell me that there are fees for the service and I will have to be ready next interview to decide if i am willing to pay the fees. I am like fine, whatever.

Then naturally I ask this guy how much the fees are. He refuses to answer and says that he hasnt even decided yet if he wants me as a client. I guess trying to put me in my place. Well gimme a break, do they think people are that dumb? Never during the whole time I was being interviewed (about an hour), did the fella ever demonstrate one potential risk for the company if they took me as a client. And the junk about only 1 in 7 people get accepted? Well maybe I am 24 years old so they dont think they really need to pull out all the stops for me, but really give me some credit! The person that walks in off the street is the only one that is at risk.

I came home and found this website, and reading after reading so many complaints I am really disturbed that a company like this can survive and prosper. There are alot of people that do not have internet access, and would never know about all the fraud that this company commits. I am just glad that I didnt bother going back to the second interview. If I hadnt just worked for a company full of manipulative scumbags for salesmen I might not have recognized the BS this dude was tellin me.
