Ripoff unreceived refund non responive to e-mails phone number disconnected as of 12/21/05

I don't even know where to begin. Basically my story is the same as everyone else who has submitted a horror story about Costume Disguises.

Ordered 2 costumes and some Darth Vadar accessory pack. Received an e-mail from them on 9/30/05 confirming that we placed an order for the accessory pack but with no mention of the other 2 costumes. At this point, if they only had one of the three items we ordered it no longer economical for us to spend the money to have one item shipped. I responded to their e-mail and wanted the entire order cancelled. They then responded that the order was ready to be shipped aty which point I responded that I no longer wanted any items from them, to cancel my order and not charge my credit card. Now mind you it had been taking them an average of 4-5 days to respond to each e-mail. And get this, as soon as I sent the e-mail telling them that they were no longer authorized to charge my credit card, guess what? A mere seconds passed before my credit card was charged. I called my bank right after the e-mail was sent to have the card cancelled and they told me that Costume Disguises had just charged my card. What a scam. They take forever to respond to e-mails but they must have someone receiveing them at all times for that to occur. Needless to say we have been trying to get our money back ever since. It is now December 21, 2005. They sent me an e-mail over 3 weeks ago saying that I would be credited in 5-10 days because they are still backed up from Halloween. They even told me at one time that I could not get a refund unless it was refunded to the original card, however, my bank assured me that they can refund to the cancelled credit card and it would be returned to me.

Excuses, excuses, but still no refund. I even went out on a limb and tried calliong them today only to be answered by a "this number is no longer in service" message. Should I be surprised? Probably not.
I also reported them to the better business bureau in Canada. I encourage anyone else who has the misfortune of dealing with this company to do the same at bbb.com.
