In November of 2003 I bought into an Adult Website Home-based business with Encore Promotions (now known as Global Premiere IT Ltd.). I am a disabled person with no source of income, so this, after researching many other Businesses, looked legitimate (according to the BBB of Ontario and The N.B.O.B.).
So, after hearing/seeing the presentation at the Hotel in Vancouver, B.C.; I was convinced that this would be a great Business to get into. I went out and bought a Computer system worth almost $3, 000.00, then I paid close to $8, 500.00 for this Website, unaware that I was being scammed.
I, at the time, was a beginner on Computers. I didn't even know how to Copy & Paste, but I knew how surf the Net, barely. When I initally phoned to make a reservation, I was asked on the phone, "How would you rate yourself on the Internet/Computers, are you a Beginner, Advanced or a Professional? ", I said: "I am a beginner", so when I went down to Vancouver for the Seminar; I was greeted by Security at the Hotel Lobby. Then at the Seminar Jeff Freedman (Salesman/Owner of Encore) dazzled everyone there with a believable presentation. After the presentation, he asked me a very bizzare question: "How much money do you have in your Bank account? " I answered with a low amount. Then on the second trip to Vancouver for Training, I received about 6 hours of Training over two (2) days with a very rude/impatient Stephen Burman, who at the time said, he is just a Trainer not an Owner of Encore Promotions, which later I found out he was an Owner. When I was still at the Hotel, I even called their Support line and received no help at all.
So after trying for four (4) Months and over 50, 000 Website hits I started to get angry. Luckily I have some good Friends, and that is when I met a Professional Adult Website Webmaster and he tried to use his Credit Card to buy a 3 day trial for $3.95 USD. Finally on the third (3) try he got it. Now, most people will try it once, maybe twice but not three (3) times; he said. After getting into the Site, The Pro Webmaster said: "All of this Content in your Website belongs to Holio.net, not Encore Promotions", this explains the $250.00 per month maintenence fee, which was actually Holio.net's monthly Content fee. This is when I consulted a Lawyer for representation in regards to a Breach of Contract by Encore Promotions.
We (my Lawyer and myself) after going back and forth with Encore called for them to appear in Court in Kelowna B.C.. they (Encore) said: "we will be there"... they never showed, so we automatically won the case. After that there was a B.C. Supreme Court Order for them to pay back the money owed to me... they never paid; so, we changed the Court and Guarnishment Order over to Ontario laws.
By the time the Court Order and Guarnishment Order were changed to Ontario, Encore closed their Bank account (where my money went) and changed their business name to Global Premiere IT Ltd. Now I am $3, 000.00 in Debt to my Lawyer (s) with no chance of getting my money back. I am very angry and I want justice done!!! *I wonder if they're selling these Websites in the U.S.A., because if they are, this falls under International Laws and should be investigated by the F.B.I., not just the R.C.M.P., Provincal or City Police departments.
