Mac Mini repair:
this is not about $$$, but how this place treats a loyal customer.
Paid $650. for the computer (NEW) from this store some years ago. (over the years have spent over 15k on Macs and other equipment at this place)
One day only saw a flashing?? on the Mini mac's screen.
Would not restart in target mode in order to run repair utilities from another Mac disk warrior etc. so I inserted the original OS X Leopard disc to run Disk Utility.
Still flashing??? when holding down "c" and now won't eject disc. (tried holding down mouse on restart, open firmware "eject disc" etc... no luck.)
Took it in for estimate, was told it was the combo drive.
I never had a defective optical drive cause the flashing?? before especially one that was not even being used, as I only use this machine for e-mail.
They called me with a $502.29 (tax in) repair bill, told me the part had to be ordered and it would be a few days for the job to be completed.
After getting over the shock of the price I
stupidly said to go ahead with the repair. After hanging up, I told myself I should have my head examined and IMMEDIATELY (within 2-3 minutes) called back to cancel the order.
The service manager "Sandra"did not answer the phone so I left a message, then tried to call 4-5 times again, no answer. Finally after 45 minutes she answered and said there would be a $50 re-stocking charge for the parts. She told me she would call me that afternoon to confirm this.(she never did)
Next day I picked up the Mini, $75 estimate & $50 parts restocking charge. I hope they enjoy the $50, they will never see me again... hope the Mac stores opening up around here put these @#% holes under!!!
