I was contacted back on approx 8-1-06 by Mr. Jeff Smith of Great Cars and Trucks in Calgary, AB (Canada) and he claimed he saw my ad on Autotrader.com (a very legitimate service in the USA). He could help me sell my vehicle fast and for even more money than I was asking in my original ad on Autotrader. I told him initially I don't do business over the phone yet he persisted and even got a little bullish with his sales tactics, then I said I was busy and to call me back some other time, even hanging up on him. He actually called me back a few days later! I told him I don't trust his offering, I never heard of his company and yet he persisted to tell me how great his service was, he had hundreds of buyers and dealerships all over the USA and Canada looking for used vehicles like mine in good shape.
The only thing he needed was my credit card # for $159 to run my ad. I still told him I wasn't interested, but he persisted, even faxed me documentation on how there service worked and to try to prove to me it was a legite service, after reading it over and even reading over a 2nd page that talked about their gaurantee, I started to buy into it and gave him my credit card # (thankfully he only charged the $159 (since he and his company are scam artists they could have charged it up to the max! *** I am gonna include picture copies of what they faxed me and you all can see how misleading it is. Their gaurantee says I am entitled to a full refund and there is NO mention of any 7 day time span on this page either! It says they will get me the market exposure I need and they are so confident that my vehicle will sell that w/in 90 days if it does not, I am entitled to a full refund, just call my personal account representative for fast friendly service.
I did not find out about the 7 day time frame until later on when I went to the website that had the application for refund. They told me my time frame was 108 days on the postmark. Now considering I waited the entire 90 days, then had to go find a notary public at the bank in town, take time off from work to do this, then make copies of my registration showing I still owned the vehicle (well duh! they never called me to say they had a buyer for it... ya think they'd know this already...) Then the wkd hit and I have to wait til Monday to mail it, I'm guessing to Calgary, mail must be 4-5 days and it probably got stuck up there for the wkd as well. If they let it sit on there desks for a few days, Gee, ya think we're up close to 108 days?!?!
I strongly suspect this "FORM" letter they send out, gets sent to everyone they deal with. This company is listed on canada-complaints.com 44 times already, and there will be others. Even the benefits page they advertise "RISK FREE MONEY BACK GAURANTEE" (verbatim) nothing about a 7 day time frame. The question they pose as the bottom of this Benefits page they sent me; with all this: why would you not use GC&T? I know now, they are a SCAM, stay away from them!!! You will lose your money and NOT sell your car. THEY ARE THIEVES! I just received my letter in the mail today actually that I am being rejected for my refund, which I sent out back in November, approx the week of the 20th or so. They claim it was postmarked on the 1st of December, that means it sat in transit to them for about 10 days in postal hands. Holiday mail will usually be slow, but I'll be they already know that and play the very favorable odds to their profit. I have been burned badly by this company, and they are a prime example of USERY and FALSE ADVERTISING with MISLEADING REPRESENTATION.
They pray on the busy, the weak of thought and the innocent and even ignorant of mind who don't know any better. Even those that have been around the block and choose not to listen to their gut feelings and still buy into there sales pitch. Only problem, there is no baseball being thrown! If any out there has any info on how to get my money back from them, or if anyone wants to start a class action CRIMINAL lawsuit against them. I would be more than happy to join the cause and put these cheats behind bars where they belong! I read some of the other ads on here and almost detail for detail, what the others wrote is exactly what happened to me. This guy or company of people are getting away w/this and they need to be stopped, shutdown, put out of business and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! They are very bad news and very deceitful people, they are not to be trusted in any way shape or form. Run like Hell if they call you on the phone, then get your # changed. One day Karma will catch up with them and they will get what's coming to them, none can escape the laws of the universe!
