I got a call during lunch today from RD Group. Before I called them back, I googled them and saw they had a long rich history on a lot of the scam boards on the internet.
So warning in hand, I returned the call to Susan a pleasant-enough person. She told me that they had reviewed my resume and wanted to interview me. Now having done contract work for years, I've dealt with a lot of recruiters. Calls to not get to the interview phase this easily.
She then proceeded to try and book me into an appointment with a Mr Morgan Shaw. Again googling Mr Shaw, he has a very non-descript profile on linkedin.com. Of note he only had 2 contacts. most recruiters have at least 100 connections.
I asked for some more information about their company, and got a generic answer that they're a transitional career search place. I was told that Mr Shaw was an expert in placing people in my field. I asked what my field was, and there was a pause on the phone line. She did give me the correct answer eventually.
I then asked her if she was aware about the negative press about the company, and she stated that all of their clients are happy with their service.
So I said bah humbug. I'm not going to meet you!
