ON December 27, 2020 I placed an order for a book with Barnes and Noble USA.
On January 5, 2021 I received an email confirming my order with an order number and stating I would receive my order on January 5, 2021...strange.
On January 13, 2021 I still had not received the order and decided to cancel it. I first emailed them and then decided I should call and speak with someone.
I called and spoke with a Customer service rep. I was told that because the order had been shipped I could not cancel it. I asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor informed me the item had not been shipped or a tracking number and email would have been sent to me via email.
However, they were unable to cancel the order.
On January 14, 2021 I receive an email stating that the item had been shipped and I would receive it on January 19, 2021. I checked the account online and it stated "Item shipped...items 0" hmmm?
I called and stated I did not want the item and to cancel the order. They once again stated they had no ability on their computers to do cancellations. And because my order was shipped they could not interrupt it once it has left the warehouse.
I told them nothing was shipped and to check the online account where it says items sent 0 they said I could not cancel my order.
On January 16, 2021 I received another email from Barnes and Noble stating " We are sorry for the delay. We do not have the item you ordered"
So I call back and state. I have an email which proves, all customer service agents from Barnes and Noble have lied to me for days stating that the company shipped an order to me which it has not and I have the email to prove it. I read it to them, and they found the email in their files. I stated, now that it is clear no items have been ordered I want to cancel my order.
The agents two of them told me that I could not cancel my order because the order was made.
This company is nothing less than corrupt.
In the USA there is a law that when orders are made online, no charges can be put ot a credit card until the item has left the warehouse (been shipped) Barnes and Noble has charged my credit card and I have printed proof that my card has been charged. Although the charge is still only pending, they have held up funds on my card that I could use for other things.
Besides the aggravation and distress this has caused me mentally (I am livid) they have interfered with my finances.
Barnes and Noble it appears have Customer service agents in place merely to antagonize their customers in my opinion and they do not deserve to have a customer base.
If anyone else has had a similar problem with them please contact me. I would like to begin a class action law suit against this company. Be sure to have proof of your claims. I have emails and printed copies of my credit card statement.
Do not trust this company!
