I'm a student, attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, with a very minimal income. Upon receiving this reward in the mail, I was so excited. I checked with members of my dorm room to see if the check was real. Everything about it seemed legitimate. I was going crazy with only one thing in mind. I wanted to help my parents pay for a few years of my college because I know they are already struggling. I read the letter over and over again. It said I was entered in some sort of ballot system was awarded $47, 000. They sent a check for $3, 985.00 payable to me in order to facilitate the "payment of international taxes and insurance fees." I was going wild. I didn't even know what to do. I wanted to get on my bike right away and ride all the way to my bank. After I talked to some financial professors in my school of business, I found that this was a complete fraud. And now I'm here hoping that these scam artists will be stopped.
