My job was "ABOLISHED" 7 yrs ago.
I worked there for 9 yrs then out of the blue they told me I had to leave (15 min to clear out my stuff).
They where doing some "re structuring" and got rid of 4 of us at the same time.
People get layed off all the time but it was the way that they did it that was TRULY discusting. I was treated like a common crimminal.
__Now I understand why there are workplace shootings__ If Employers would treat those with respect and dignety, there would be far less hostility and incidents.
As for the racisim and sexism, I experienced that within the last yr or so that I was there.
The "SENIOR STAFF are given special treatment and people like me are treated like a piece of trash.
I went from complete respect and loyalty to utter contempt toward the YMCA organization.
The General Manager there is named Jorge Rojas however, he is best known as "HEE HAW".
Do not volunteer there and then tell them that you are taking a break to look for another job so you can make some money doing what you do (Teaching fitness classes). You will not be respected. To them, you must be provide free labor!!
