Don't bother thinking you will get any type of Mail-In rebate from Roxio! I have been getting the run around for 2 YEARS now! July 08 I was forced to purchase the new version because my 2 year old Roxio 9 would now activate due to a re-format. July '08 I purchased online Easy CD Creator 10 which included the bonus $50 mail-in rebate. Purchased it online and turns out to be 2 rebates in. PDF format; $20 and $30. One week later I sent in the form with the required information; Serial number from a previous purchased roxio (I've purchased 3 online before then) and a print-out of the confirmation email which is all required by the rebate forms. (In fact I STILL have the pdf's and the emails as I keep my emails all the way since 2004). The rebates were available from 09/05/1997 - 12/31/2008. I even registered the software online roxio a week after purchasing.
With an estimated 8-10 weeks for processing and delivery I waited. November 2008 I emailed them asking where the rebate was and they claim they had no idea. They had no record of me purchasing any roxio products. I sent in all my information including the serial numbers and account information on all the products I've purchased online from roxio. Later I discover roxio sends out the rebates to be handled by ANOTHER company (RebatesHQ) yet do NOT mention that on the rebate anywhere.. it's mailed out to ROXIO. Many emails back and forth and still waiting..
Jump to 2009 and I am reminded that I STILL never got the $50us rebate and so I contact them again (Roxio who tells me RebateHQ handles this). I had been contacting both before.. I recontacted RebatesHQ and over the period of 3 months (Oct 2009 -Jan 2010) and once again NOTHING BUT EXCUSES.. We can't locate your rebate, never arrived, we have no record of sales. I demanded a supervisor call me and over a period of months nothing but waiting and waiting for replies (sometimes lastly 1-2 weeks apart).. FINALLY they gave me a phone number to call (January 2010). Christ I've moved 3 TIMES since all this that is how long this has been!
Today I call them up (for the FIRST TIME) and you get this stupid menu system with no way to get to a PERSON other than a tracking rebate by tracking number or Phone number.. I put in my number and sure enough can't be found. BS!
if you put in your number twice, the second time it will transfer you to a customer service rep. On hold for 5 mins I get answered and ask to please speak to a supervisor. This person tells me he can't unless he tries to help me first. Fast forward 30 mins of WASTED TIME.. of LIES, and BS.. Oh listen to this.. He claims has no information on my rebate and it's closed. He starts to say how I've called earlier today and talked with some female rep?? What the?? I JUST called for the first time.. Then he asks for my last and first name.. He claims he has me on record but the rebate is closed.. (it was from a place I lives 2 years ago, which is where I was living at the time). I then asked very POINT BLANK QUESTIONS.
ME: YOU CLAIM YOU NEVER RECEIVED MY REBATE YET YOU JUST FINISHED TELLING ME THAT YOU HAVE IT.
Rep: The rebate is closed and nothing can be sent as the rebate is expired.
ME: WHY WAS THE REBATE NOT SENT OUT IF YOU DID IN FACT RECEIVE IT?
Rep: it was missing information
ME: WHAT INFORMATION
Rep: UPC number, Bar code
ME: HOW CAN YOU SEND IN A REBATE WITH A BAR CODE AND UPC WHEN IT'S A DOWNLOADABLE PURCHASE??
Rep: ... don't remember all that was said but to extent of something to do with needing the serial number from a previous purchase
ME: SO YOU ARE TRYING TO TELL ME YOU RECEIVED A BLANK PRINTED OUT PDF REBATE FORM FROM ME??
YOU HAVE TO FILL OUT THE FORM, THAT IS WHAT IT IS.. IT'S A FORM YOU FILL OUT. YOU PUT A PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED ROXIO PRODUCT SERIAL NUMBER AND A COPY OF YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL.
I EVEN HAVE BOTH PDF FILES RIGHT HERE SITTING IN FRONT OF ME ON THE COMPUTER AND IT SAYS JUST THAT!
rep: The form was incomplete.
ME: HOW CAN IT BE COMPLETE IF THERE IS ONLY 1 PART TO FILL OUT AND TO INCLUDE A PRINTOUT OF THE EMAIL??

ME: WHAT EXACTLY WAS MISSING?
rep: Nothing can be done now, the rebate has expired.
ME: OF COURSE IT HAS EXPIRED IT'S 2 YEARS LATER. I SENT IN THE REBATE BACK IN JULY 0F 2008. YOU JUST PROVED THAT YOU HAD RECEIVED IT.
rep: the rebate can't be issued anymore as it's expired.
ME: YOU STILL HAVE NOT TOLD ME WHY YOU NEVER SENT IT OUT.
rep: you have waited this long to contact us about this, if you had contacted us earlier we could perhaps been able to do something.
ME: I CONTACTED REBATEDSHQ IN NOVEMBER 2008 (4 MONTHS AFTER SENDING OUT THE REBATE WHICH SAYS TO WAIT 8-10 WEEKS FOR PROCESSING AND DELIVERY) AND BACK THEN YOU CLAIMED YOU NEVER RECEIVED IT. IN FACT I HAVE ALL THE EMAILS SENT AND RECEIVED BACK THEN! NOW YOU ARE TELLING ME IT WAS SENT OUT. FOR THE PASSED 2 YEARS I HAVE BEEN TOLD ALL THESE EXCUSES AS TO WHY IT WAS NOT SENT OUT.. CAN'T LOCATE YOUR REBATE, CAN'T LOCATE ANY PRODUCTS PURCHASED, CAN'T FIND YOUR SERIAL NUMBER.. I EVEN SAID IN THE EMAILS AS TO HOW I CAN LOG INTO MY ACCOUNT IN 5 SECONDS AND GET ALL MY SERIAL NUMBERS TO ALL THE PRODUCTS I PURCHASED, INCLUDING THE DATES THEY WERE PURCHASED AND YOU CLAIM YOU CAN'T FIND ME? IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS CALL YOU TOLD ME YOU COULD NOT LOCATE ME, THEN YOU TELL ME YOU FOUND ME BUT COULD NOT PROCESS IT BECAUSE IT WAS INCOMPLETE.. YOU CAN'T EVEN TELL ME WHAT IS INCOMPLETE WHEN I HAVE ALL THE PROOF RIGHT HERE!. YOU THEN TELL ME LIKELY ARRIVED TOO LATE.. IT WAS PURCHASED JULY 2008, MAILED OUT JULY 2008, NOVEMBER 2008 YOU CLAIM YOU CAN'T FIND IT, REBATE IS GOOD TILL DECEMBER 31, 2008. NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO TELL ME PERHAPS IT ARRIVED TOO LATE.. YOU'RE TRYING TO TELL ME IT TOOK 6 MONTHS TO ARRIVE?? IN THE BEGINNING OF THE CALL YOU TOLD ME IT DIDN'T ARRIVE, NOW YOU SAY IT DID BUT INCOMPLETE. YOU JUST TOLD ME HOW I CALL A NUMBER OF TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND HOW I FINISHED CALLING EARLIER TODAY AND SPOKE TO SOME FEMALE REP. THE POST MARK WHICH YOU JUST FINISHED TELLING ME IF OF A PLACE I LIVED 2 YEARS AGO IN 2008. I MOVED OUT IN AUGUST OF 2008 SO THAT JUST PROVES IT WAS SENT OUT THEN. ME: OF COURSE IT IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU ARE QUITE OBVIOUSLY LYING TO MY FACE. I JUST RECEIVED THE PHONE NUMBER JUST NOW IN EMAIL BY NEIL SO HOW COULD HAVE I CALL YOU ALL THESE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND I HAVE *ALL* THE PROOF AND YOU STILL ARE COMING UP WITH THE SAME EXCUSES WITH ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO BACK THEM UP WITH. YOU PROVED THAT YOU IN FACT RECEIVED THE REBATE, YOU PROVED YOU RECEIVED IT BACK THEN AS THE POST DATED ADDRESS WAS BACK IN 2008 BEFORE I MOVED OUT 1 MONTH LATER! YOU HAVE ALL THE PROOF OF THE PURCHASE INFORMATION, DATES, PRICES, SERIAL NUMBERS, ACCOUNT HISTORY... SO WHAT IS THE EXCUSE?
ME: SUPERVISOR PLEASE.
[I'm on hold for 30 mins and suddenly a click and the phone is SILENT but light crackling every once in a while almost as if the music turned off]. I wait to see if the phone actually DISCONNECTS.. I wait for around 10 mins and give up.. Call right back to get a friendly sounding female who I " I'd like to speak to a supervisor, please". RIGHT AWAY she transfers me... I wait for about 10 seconds and she comes back and says that there is no supervisor today and to please call back on Monday..
I will be calling THURSDAY on my day off but they already proved they have CALLER-ID and I wouldn't put it passed them to deny you with any excuse in the book once they realize who it is calling.
But I will NOT give up.. I am SICK AND TIRED of being taken advantage of!
I'd appreciate hearing your comments and your past stories on rebates since it seems this is VERY common from a quick search on Google.
