I have internet assess provided by cia.com. I pay thru direct withdrawal from my bank. I receive bank statements monthly. I chose to bank this way so I have a paper trail for all my expenditures.
As a rule I pay my bills the old fashioned way. A bill arrives in the mail and It is paid within the deadline. I have reservations about anyone having access to my accounts. However, this one company is the unfortunate exception. I live in Rural Grey County. This is my story.
In the past year /08, while looking thru my bank statements, I noticed that I was double billed for a one month period. I spent alot of time on the phone (on hold) getting this cleared up. ( spoke with JP).
I just got off the phone again with Customer Services Online Services Team (Joke). After waiting another insane amount of time on hold, I spoke with a male with a french canadian accent who would not divulge his full name. He would only give me JP as his name.
In Jan 2009, money was withdrawn twice by this company (double bill). Then in Feb the amount was DOUBLED and taken out Twice. I receive monthly email statements and funnily enough they do not match my bank statements.
So had I not checked my bank statements, this would have gone unnoticed. How many of us regularly check our statements!!! Red flags and bells went off. I wondered how many people this has and is happening to.
I contacted the Bank and stopped all access by this company. The Bank Manager was very concerned so I went so far as to contact the police to discuss this matter. Yes, they agreed that the potential for mass theft was there, and could I get more info on this company.
I contacted the Cybersurf internet Services again and was told there was a glitch in the software. uhhu.
I requested a cheque in the full amount they owed be sent. They said I would receive it in 6 to 8 weeks. We shall see.
Just an aside, this JP apparently doesn't have a supervisor and he says he works at a call center with 40 other staff. Yet when I call this number877-493-4638, I always seem to get JP.
Criminal activity?? How big.? I would love to know.
Need Help Here. I'll bet if enough people come forward... I smell Class Action
