Our Sears freezerless fridge (actually made by Woods, a now-defunct company) kept burning out light bulbs too quickly. We had Sears Service out a couple of years ago, but they couldn't find a problem. This time when the bulb blew the plastic socket was swcorched. It took Sears three weeks to come out and tell us we needed a socket. Duh. I took a day off work to meet the service guy on the next scheduled visit, only to get a call from Sears that morning saying they hadn't been able to fund the part. I removed the socket myself, found an appliance parts service that had the part, and when I went to pick it up, there was a Sears service van parked outside. Sears charged us $60 to do nothing -- had they found the part, it would have cost more than double that for them to remove four screws, clip in the new socket, and refasten the four screws. Waste of time AND money.
