I bought a Blackberry 7750.Origonally, I activated only the phone service due to service fees. I later added the data plan which doubled my monthly service plan. I recently was given a work phone and had very little use for the Blackberry since it is consintintly shutting down and plagued with error codes.
I contacted Telus Mobility over the phone six months before writing this letter to cancel the data plan as I wasn't using it (I wanted to honor the remaining months on my contract).
Over the six months, I have been given various explainations on why they can't remove the data plan from my phone, the best being a Telus Mobility rep told me that you can hack the software on the Blackberry and receive free data service. If this is the case, this is there problem not mine. It was simple in the beginning to activate the Blackberry as just a phone, it was simple to add the data plan.
I simply want to remove this service - put the Blackberry in the drawer and ride out my contract. I was given the option to buy a new or refurbished phone and transfer the service to it, well... Telus Mobility has the worst selection of cell phones of all the major mobility phone companies (As of Sept.14, 2005).
I would be more than happy to purchase a Palm Treo or the Motorola Razor, but Telus Mobility doesn't carry these products.
I am 29 and have been a loyal customer since I was 16. And since 2000, I have had two phones on the bill. I have since stopped paying my Telus Mobility bill... and have since been disconnected... I have asked to be re-embursted for the data plan and put that towards the small outstanding bill.
Telus Mobility sime does not care. I wish there was one person at Telus mobility that could see the common sense in my situation. I hope the future will be friendly when I take my business to the competition.
