Let me begin with an apology to all who have been hurt by this man for not shouting this out before. I have been the biggest fool in the world. I did not realize his deception until July of 2001, and then kept believing he would stop from then until now. That has changed now, I am not in denial or afraid anymore, and I will deal with whatever has to happen to recover from what this man has done to me and my children and extended family. I will not hide and I will not sit silent while he damages others any longer. He convinced me that I was paranoid, imagining things, crazy etc or at times, threatened that I would go to jail, lose my kids, lose him (believe it or not, until recently, that was a fear of mine!). He does this to alot of people, and most are so embarrassed that they were so gullible, they stay quiet, or they try to do something and realize that he has left no actual legal recourse to stick him with. He laughs at lawsuits.

Rui Manuel Leandro is his birth name. He went as Roy Leandro during his con artist years in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His game is to work with someone in cabinetmaking or renovations, conning them into how he is going to turn their business into a big success, gaining their trust and access to finances, customers, vehicles, whatever and then proceeds to run their business into the ground. He is extremely convincing.
I worked with him through the major one in Winnipeg, Leandro Design Furnishings, which he conned the owner of Chateau Roofing and Renovations.
He is a long term con man, he plays people for a long time without causing them harm, doing great work, showing amazing talent and clearly having some sense of how to succeed. Of course, he is destitute at the moment because someone screwed him over, and he is trying to rebuild his life! This is probably sounding familiar to alot of you who know him. He also works his clients this way, gaining friendships and getting cash from them for "extras".
He conned me into "loaning" him money, getting new credit cards to give him cash off or purchase goods for "our" company when Leandro Design furnishings was struggling. I was not getting paid, I was floating things and destroying my credit in the process. I ended up over twenty five thousand dollars in debt by the spring of 2000. Then he convinced me into putting the equity of my home into setting up a business for him to "fix" the poor customers from Leandro Design Furnsiheings as well as to pay back my credit card debts and have an income. It was called Ladi France. He came up with the name. It was supposed to be a play on la difference, but now I realize he wanted to make it look like it was all my idea. I put my name on everything, trusted him as I not only worked for him for two years but was also, according to him, "his soulmate". He embezzled money from our company by claiming he was purchasing "cash deals" for supplies. I could not get any true info as he was constantly working to keep me completely depressed and ill. I ended up selling him the company for a dollar in July of 2001, when he finally admitted using the money for gambling and I threatened to call the cops on him. He kept me in the house "talking" to me for days on end, "brainwashing" me to make sure I was convinced he did it all for love and for us. After 911, as I was being harrassed by customers and getting death threats in my home, which he was using as his office, I felt my only option was running with him to Calgary with nothing but my car, my three kids, my cat and Roy. He claimed he had a job there and he would "fix" everything, pay everyone back, and get things figured out so we could get married.
What a fool I was! We lived together in Calgary for three years off and on. I was constantly afraid that if I got a job, these poor customers would come after me, so we lived on my child support. Roy worked for people, then conned them, I would get upset and leave him, but he always conned me back.
He used the owners of companies called
Van Go Artisians, (Owner John is a nice Christian who gave Roy a break)
Moda Nova, (Owners Ruby and Derek set it up for Roy, just as I had in Winnipeg) I saw him screwing up from day one and started planning to leave him, which I did. That's when he went to
Kitchen Showplace Etc. Inc, (Owner Tony Reis was a fellow portuguese as well as soft-hearted). Roy promised me he would not take over this company, but just work there. I actually went to work there for a few weeks, thinking that he was actually getting it together, but within days, Tony had me cornered wanting to know what games Roy was playing, so I stopped going.
I was still stupid enough to believe Roy was going to marry me and fix everything, so I moved in with him again. He convinced me he was finally financially stable. Within two months it was clear that he had serious problems, so this time I moved back to Manitoba. The poor customers I was so afraid of are nothing compared to the damage that was happening to me from living with Roy.
He collapsed Kitchen Showplace, and convinced Tony to continue to front another company called
Terra Velha investments or
TVI Inc. He also ran ads in the
buy and sell for people to hire him as a former contractor who could save them money. I was frozen in a pool of depression in Winnipeg, still believing that he was going to help me fix the legal issues from the company I fronted for him.
He convinced me AGAIN, that he was changed, that he was setting up an online business, that he had this new concept and showed me his website called
MyTrueSkills.com. He was going to move here with me, then he was going to live here part time, then he was going to move me back there. I had to get legal help as my ex-husband was not going to let the kids go back there (smart man!) so while Roy was telling me he was getting money for a lawyer, he started up with another single mom named
Lisa, who he is currently taking for the worst ride of her life although she has yet to figure it out. He came to town, bought me a ring, went back to Calgary, and started avoiding my calls. Weird way to break up after all this time, but he has since then continuously called claiming he does not love this girl, is just using her for the time being until we both sort out our finances etc, yet some days, he switches his tune to that he cares for her and just wants to be friends. I figured it out. He just wanted to keep me in his good books so I would not tell anyone all this stuff.
I am probably the one and only person who has ever stayed in his life longer than two years while also knowing about his business and his gamling addiction. There it is, why he screws people over. He was always going to kick it, promised he would by the time he turned forty. Well that was last July, I got the ring in August, and off he was to someone else to make sure he kept a roof over his head and food in his belly while he screwed people over for gambling cash. He has two kids whom he doesn't pay any child support to, his wife (he's still legally married) is stuck with liens on her house so high that she can't even file for divorce or she will lose her home, people all over Roys past are struggling with financial ruin, emotional trauma, feeling violated. But he is clever enough that there is never any legal recourse that can stick to him. He made a point of "safekeeping" all of the Ladi France files at his wife's house, then conveniently claimed she threw them away. He puts checks through your account that bounce so it looks like you are involved in his scams, then you are afraid to turn him in or you may get in trouble. He takes you shopping, buys you a ton of stuff, and then claims he can't pay you back, he already has with the shopping trip, or the casino trip, or the fancy dinner, whatever he chose to do and take you along, he claims you "allowed" him to spend your money. Or you "knew" where the money came from when you find out he stole it from a business project. He is a classic Sociopath with severe Narcissistic personality disorder. Amazingly charming, easy to trust, love, want to help. Handsome, well dressed, flirtatious and funny, and the most dangerously evil person to anyone who he gets involved with. If there are any lawyers from Canada who can think of a way to stop this man (He has not paid income tax for at least ten years) please do so quick. He will change phone numbers and move very very soon now that I have turned in his accurate and present location and contacts. Many, Many, many people and companies, including the government are looking for him. He needs to go to jail before he hurts another set of children and their poor mother, let alone all the customers or "investors" he is currently conning, and all of us trying to recover from the mess he left us with.
