Ryno Renovations-Bath renovation
Lousy work. Gross mistakes. Left in the middle of the project

Lousy work: Uneven tiles. Irregular and huge tile spacing. The floor remained not leveled even after Stan N. performed a leveling procedure. Dirty work: Stan left the linoleum floor of the furnace room permanently damaged by his tools and dirty with glue. He promised to clean the glue and never did. Stan's attitude was cleaning after his work is not his responsibility.

Gross mistakes: Installed the drywall for a specially designed noise-canceling wall between the bedroom and the bathroom, without installing the explicitly provided insulation material. Installed 1/2 inch pipes for provided 3/4 inch faucet.

Not a man of his word: The agreement and the price he gave us included installation of copper pipes but instead, he started to push us to install plastic pipes, because it is too time consuming to install the copper pipes. At the time of hiring him for the renovation project I asked him if he is familiar with the Schluter Systems. He was very excited about it because as he said he always recommends "Schluter" to his clients. When it came to install the "Schluter System" on the floor he started to argue that this is not necessary (contrary to the Schluter official documentation and his own statements at the time of hiring). It appeared that Stan did not know how to install "Schluter System" properly and I had to find the official guide books from Internet for him. After he was half way throw the work, Stan asked for additional payment, giving us absolutely unreasonable arguments like performing additional work (which was not authorized by us) and having to level the floor (which was completely predictable at the time of the quote). Stan left his work half done, without a notice, for a "more profitable contract" (in his own words).

Be aware: Stan knows how to make a good initial impression and trick you to believe he is a man of his word. With us, he applied the following tactic: He gave us a reasonable, initial time-frame and price quote. Then, in the middle of the work (when no other contractor will be willing to continue) he asked for more money. We agreed to pay part of the amount but on the next day Stan was on his road to a new “more-profitable” contract.

I hope this feedback will help others to stay away from such a costly and painful experience.
