Fido
Overbilling/scam

To whom it may concern,

My name is Safia, and I am being scammed by Fido.

I have been with Fido since I was 16 years old. I am now 21. I have been fairly pleased with Fido’s service and prices, and recommended Fido to everyone I knew, until now. I have been charged for Data that I have not used, clearly a scam they have been using on many people, use https://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1720910-Fido-Data-Overbilling-Scam as an example. Also https://www.customerservicescoreboard.com/Fido

I have been to the US twice, with my iPhone, and never got charged for data because I do not have (or ever have had) a data plan. This time, I got charged almost $300 for data that I did not use. Every time I called they would somehow blame it on me, like maybe I clicked on something by accident, or like maybe my apps were updating themselves (they weren’t, I would have to be logged in first). Even one Fido CSR admitted that I should not have been charged for data roaming, yet he transferred me to someone else because “he couldn’t do anything about it”. In that same phone call, I was transferred to 4 different people, and then at last put on hold for about 15-20 min… then they hung up on me! I couldn’t believe that Fido is resorting to such tactics to make more money, when clearly they will lose more customers that way. They think that I will just “give up” and pay the money like most people with high-stress fast-paced lifestyles would. I had been on the phone for an entire hour and a half and was exhausted, I thought “I’ll deal with this later”. No one I talked was able to “do anything about it”. And of course, they couldn’t “prove” to me that I had been on the internet. How could I? I don’t even have a data plan! Who knows, maybe I was drunk, called Fido and asked for a data plan, then surfed the net! Which is impossible because I don’t drink.

Also, they disconnected my line with no warning! And I can’t log into my account on their website to check the details of my bill, they said I can’t log in until I pay! Great catch, huh?

I am sure that I can find enough people out there who have been scammed by fido. I am not a lawyer but I’m sure there are ways to take legal action quite easily, provided that there are enough complaints. I will not just allow myself to be ripped of and stepped on, I will not let Fido get away with scamming me out of my hard earned money.

After I am done with this disaster, I will be going with a better phone company. Example, I can get a great plan with Public mobile for $35/month that includes unlimited province-wide calling, unlimited data, free voicemail and caller ID, and unlimited international texts. Fido could never beat that! For $35/mo with fido, I couldn’t have gotten any of that included! No wonder fido is trying to scam people… they can’t compete with companies like wind, mobilicity and public mobile! If Fido had decent customer service, I would have stayed with them for the rest of my life (and have never even explored the option of going with a different company)…. Let’s see, if I stayed with fido, and I live for another 60 years@ $35/mo plan (plus tax), that would be AT LEAST $25, 200 that they would be making off of me!!!

If anyone can offer me any advice, please email me at [email protected]
