The gentleman that does our groundskeeping at our business took a weedeater to this AA Mower to be repaired - it wouldn't start. AA Mower replaced the starter, charged $60 (that was paid in cash). When the groundskeeper went to use it, it did not work. He took it back to AA Mower and complained of it not working, and the person there, Harold, told him the engine had low compression and it wasn't worth fixing, but would not refund any of the money.
As office manager, I called AA Mower to speak with the owner. I identified myself, and the person who answered the phone (that I later understood to be Harold) would not say who the owner was, would not identify himself, and was extremely rude and uncooperative. He told me he wasn't the owner and if I wanted to speak to the owner I'd have to make an appointment, to which I replied "OK, that's what I'd like to do". Then he replied that there wouldn't be any appointment and when I asked him if he was the manager and could make decisions, he was once again verbally abusive and rude, but finally conceded that he could make decisions.
I explained that he charged $60 to fix the weedeater which was not fixed, and while I didn't expect him to work for free, I certainly thought it would be the right thing to return some (if not all) of the money he charged for "fixing" the weedeater. Harold told me that HE ran the business and not me and proceeded to be extremely rude and argumentative. He appears to be running an extremely disreputable business and I want others to beware of doing business with this dishonest businessman.
