I purchased a three year Mobile Phone "Family" Plan from Bell for my wife, son and myself. About 14 months after the purchase, we moved from the suburbs to an older more established neighbourhood closer to downtown. In our new location we could not get any reception in and around our house, or within abour a square block. At the time of purchase, I specifically inquired about the coverage and signal strenght and was assured that all the major population centers in Alberta and the transportation corridors between them were completly covered.
After two or three complaints to the Bell Canada Customer Service Department, I was told that there are some "dead spots" and I was in one of them. There was nothing Bell Canada would do about it, and I was told if I was dissatisfied with the service I can cancell, however there would be a $299 cancellation fee for each phone.
The contract states that Bell will provide a service for which I agreed to pay. I had to continue to pay for a service that Bell did not provide, nor were they willing to offer any sort of conssetion. The most frustrating was the aditude I received from the customer service personell and the supervisors I spoke to. As far as they were concerned, to bad, live with it or pay the cancellation penalty.
I went to another company a couple of weeks prior to my Bell contract expirering and purchased a plan from them. I had already spoken to a Bell service representative to inform them about the poor service and dispicable attitude, and I would oviously not renew my contract with them.
Bell is now charging me $299 for each phone as a cancellation fee, they claim I did not wait until my contract had ended before I purchased a another one from a different service provider and used my original cell phone numbers. They claim this violates the contract, yet they have not provided me with a service they contracted to provide.
In addition, the phone number my son had has not been used for over a year, we continued to pay the monthly fee, yet we are billed for a cancellation fee.
I can't express how discussed I am with Bell Canada, their "superior" aditude and total disrepect for their customers. I will make every effort to convince everybody and anybody from doing buisness with Bell.
GETTING YOUR MONEY IS THEIR MAIN GOAL, if you get the service you pay for or not, they don't care. They adverise "Full Coverage" but can't and won't deliver, then tell you "tough luck, if you don't like it pay the cancellation fee.
IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A CELL PHONE PLAN STAY AWAY FROM BELL, YOU WILL GET RIPED OFF.
