Fake check for winning the lottery (125k)

I was sent a letter stating that I won the DE-LOTTO NORTH AMERICAN SWEEPSTAKES LOTTERY held on july 13th, 2007 in the 2nd category. There was a check enclosed for $4875 and i was suppose to use that to pay $2875 for govt taxes on the 125K that I won.
The check looks real except for a type-o in the void after 60 days warning at the bottom. The word check is spelled ckeck. The address on the check is 1990 M street nw, suite 800, washington, dc 20036. the check is from the bank wachovia. The routing numbers at the bottom of the check are for someplace in South Carolina.
I was told to call Mr. Roy Smith at 1-416-893-3876. I did and he told me to sign the back of the check and deposit it in my bank and call him the next day to get the information of the tax agent that i was suppose to send the money to by western union or moneygram. The bank said it was a fraud and when i called the next day I got his voicemail, but it was to full to leave a message.
