Mayfair Financial Services
$125K Sweepstakes Winner Notification & Check SCAM in plain envelope Ripoff

Plain business envelope with laser printed address label and no return address. Looks suspicious already! Real-looking check for $4875 USD accompanies letter stating you are one of 32 winners of $4M the DE-Lotto North American Sweepstakes Lottery and are entitled to $125K. It is a "Final Notification" and claims to have made many unsuccessful attempts at contact.

Check is electronically signed by "Douglas S. Cleland". Letter contains two other names, John Freeman (Claims/Disbursement Agent), and Michael Lawson (Promotion Manager). Address on letter is Canadian. Address on check is US (1212 St. George Rd., PO Box 509, Evensville, IN, 47703) [City spelled incorrectly and with two commas. I checked MapQuest and address/zip info doesn't match.] Also, bank on check is listed as US Bank in Memphis, Missouri, but no address.

Why 3 different names and 3 different addresses/locations? It's a scam! Very convincing on first pass. I hope others look deeper and spread the word.
