Purchase of a lemon
I purchased all New appliances (stainless) last April/07 from Coast Appliances. I was out of town a lot for about the first 9 months... I did notice the fridge was not cooling properly but tried the cold adjustments and left it again for a bit. My mother passed away and I was back and forth to B.C and then I was home and not working and noticed this problem even more... I called Coast Appliances where I purchased, they told me to call Aptco repair, they sent a a service man out who said my new fridge needed a new thermostat. Aptco called me and told me that my warranty had just ran out just over a week ago but they would backdate and cover this repair. The service man came again and changed the thermostat out and also (for whatever reason) took back panel and adjusted the coil on the back of the fridge. The fridge never sounded or ran the same after that... still the same cooling problems and sounded loud. I called Aptco repair back and they sent the service guy out again... he then changed out the cold control panel??? Then I got a bill from Aptco which at that time I contacted Fridgetaire regarding... Fridgetaire decided they would cover this cost. The fridge was still not working, Aptco sent the same guy out again and this time he said my fridge was screwed... the doors are not closing properly and I needed another fridge. Fridgetaire at this point decided to offer me 75% rebate on a new fridge for my failed appliance!!! I would have to pay for this new fridge upfront (oh did I mention I have not had a job in just about a year) and do not have $1000 or so kicking around...this rebate also states that it does not include tax, dealer handling or installation charges... Aptco Repairs sent out yet another service guy on June 30/08 (after the rebate was offered), he spent over an hour trying to adjust this fridge which the doors were not lining up... he could not get it... he told me I got a lemon and that he would be putting this in his report. I feel I have not had customer service from Coast appliances... when I called I spoke to the manager and he told me that's why people get extra warranty... they don't make things like they used to... and he couldn't help me... I would have to go through Fridgetaire... Aptco Repair...they sent service people out 4x's and I did not pay for anything (because they put this under warrenty) yet they should have replaced my fridge at no cost... that would have been the customer relation thing to do... I just can't believe this and the rebate is only good for a very limited brands for me to pick from. I will NEVER purchase with COAST APPLIANCES and my way NEVER purchase FRIDGETAIRE products again... if you could help me or others with my story... by all means...
