Would not recommend OHF Construction after a dreadful recent experience with the above noted job.
An hourly contract was entered into to complete the job and OHF proceeded to poorly manage both costs and timelines by invoicing more than $20, 000 above original estimates.
Subsequently, other written quotes were obtained on work OHF performed, where other contractors confirmed aspects of OHF’s work were done to a less than professional standard, and were overbilled. As an example, OHF claimed 67 hours of labor for completing a portion of work, where other subsequent quotes came back between 20-25 hours. This poor management of costs appears to have gone on throughout the project as evidenced by the huge discrepancy between OHF’s initial and final costs.
When presenting information to OHF to support the claim for being overbilled, David Douglas’ response was simply that this is the contract you entered and we expect payment, regardless. This was OHF’s response after having already paid more than $10, 000 above original estimate and they were unwilling to co-operate. In addition, Mr. Douglas advised they had registered a Builder’s Lien on the property which we would have to pay out in the event of a sale. This served as further evidence of their unwillingness to take responsibility for their poor project management.
