On October 6, 2007 I ordered a full high-end bedroom suite and due to insurance reasons, paid in full (nearly $5000). At the time of purchase, I was advised that the delivery would take 10-12 weeks from the time of the order. After discussing with other furniture stores, this time period was normal for the type of "quality" solid wood furniture.
As Christmas approached, nearing week 10, I called the store to make sure the delivery would not take place while I was away on holiday. They assured me the suite would be delivered in early January if I hadn't already heard from them.
Early and mid- January passed with no communication from Bedroom Depot. EVERY call I made with reference to the delivery was answered with "in another 2 weeks". By February, I was getting pretty pissed off at the lack of investigation into why my suite was not delivered so I called the "guy who does all the ordering" since the manager couldn't pick up a phone and do it himself. Finally, somebody actually contacted the manufacturer to discover that the factory was closed for 4 months. All those "another 2 week" calls were pure bull**** as I had suspected.
Five months after the original order, I was advised of a delivery time for my bedroom suite. One nightstand was the wrong colour and there was NO BED. Yes, that's right, a bedroom suite without the bed. The delivery men acted like I was already advised that the bed wasn't coming. The crooked manager, Stuart, acted surprised that there was no bed... I think the absence of a queen sleigh bed is pretty apparent.
It has been over 6 months since this order was placed and paid in full... I'm still sleeping on the floor. Because this problem was "beyond their control", they are unwilling to refund the order (as I had requested several months ago). Had Bedroom Depot had any brains or customer service skills, they could have told me that my order would take 7 months. But why would they do that and lose a sale?
I wrote a very detailed letter to the owner who did not have the decency to reply. Part and parcel of all the rip-off artists who run this establishment.
