We contacted capitol movers just before december last year, 2008, and we emailed a few times and after doing my due diligence with other movers i found that capitol sound respectable and honest. Twyla seemed very nice and knowledgeable about this company and about the whole moving industry as a whole. I could not have been more misled in my life.
If you read their contract and profile they come to your home and lay floor rugs, they did not even have any. next they were to tag, list and write down all of our belongings one by one and in detail describe the shape they were in. They did not. Next we were promised to have a mattress cover for our bed. They did not have the correct one so they taped two smaller ones together to make one that would fit our king bed. They were also according to the contract, wrap all of our possessions in individual professional moving blankets, again they did not have enough so they tried to wrap our furniture in the blankets that i provided as floor mats so wipe their feet. What the hell kind of service is this. Wait it gets better. We were behind the eight ball and had no choice but to go with this company at that time it was moving day. As far as the tag and listing goes i was assured this is how they do it i knew it was not. as far as the blankets go i was promised that the furniture would be babied until it was take to the warehouse and then it would be wrapped. they were not re-wrapped. As for the mattress cover i was told it would be replaced at the warehouse with the correct one, it was not. i was told they would send a cleaner to my old house to clean the floors, the did not even try to remember that one. It still gets better. My wife and new born child were in Ontario waiting for this stress free move from hell, now Twyla and capitol moving knew that my wife would be alone with my new son so the move needed to be as smooth as possible. When the movers shoed up again without floor runners and manners almost to the point of threatening my wife that they would not deliver the rest of the furniture unless she laid off. Thank god i was not there, but then again they probably would not have acted this way if i was. With this contract stating they would place all the furniture and belongings where ever you wanted we had the house plan ready to make it a little easier on my wife when it came to unpacking. However when it came to following where my wife asked them to place anything they no longer spoke english and ignored her to the point of tear. She began to actually fear these two men and their very frustrating attitude that she was going to call the police to make here feel safe. Apparently these men no longer work there i am told. There is alot more to this but i wont bore you. Now to the meat of it. these so called professional movers lost, LOST 12 boxes of books, not just any books but our University books of which we use on a daily basis for work reference so lets say about $7000 in books in total LOST. Still more to come, i have actual new holes in my wall in the new house from where they threw boxes, i have about another 3 to $4000 in damages to furniture, i have dressers with boot prints in places and monstrous holes in dressers, i wrote as list of damages as long as my arm, not one piece of anything was undamaged, we had boxes opened rummaged through and then the contents of these several boxes jammed into a larger box. If anything in life that you read on the net and trust in, i beg you trust me when i say i would shoot myself in the forehead before i would ever use, recommend, talk about, if there building was on fire i would not waste my piss to save it. and i am a nice guy.
