I received a phone call from Royal Crown Resorts back in April. They said my name was drawn in a trade show draw and I had won a digital camera and a vacation at the Banff Gate Mountain Lodge and Spa in Canmore. The only hitch was that I had to go to their smarmy sales pitch for a travel club. I went with my spouse and we both agreed that we would just go and get the free gifts and then leave. The sales presentation was really great (or so we thought) and we started thinking that we should sign up for their travel club because it appeared to be a really good deal. Better and less expensive vacations... The sales guy said that if we signed up right then we could take advantage of the great deal and if we changed our minds within 10 days, all we had to do was call and cancel and they would refund all of our money- "No questions asked"
Well we paid our money and when we went home, we started looking on line to see more about Chateau World and all of the "great" things we could expect. We were really excited... until we found some web posts that suggested that the whole thing was a scam. Then we started to get worried.
We decided to cancel the next day. I figured that web posts by people who had been taken by this company in the past might have been the kind of rude and nasty customer that makes people feel less inclined to cooperate with them. So I decided to be really nice and polite. I would comply with whatever their requirements were and then I would be sure to get my money back.
When I called, the woman I spoke to was very nice and sounded honest, sincere and totally trustworthy. She said that they completely understood our decision to cancel and assured me that I should not feel bad about it at all. Then she told me to ship everything that the sales rep gave us- including the contracts- everything back to them and they would cut and mail a cheque to me right away.
I felt like I had surmised correctly. Those other jerks didn't get their money because they were rude and nasty... that is what I thought, until more and more time passed without my refund. I have talked to someone by the name of Kim Schram who has assured me not once, not twice but three times that the cheque was sent and she had no idea why it had not arrived. I have also talked to an Andre Muran who seems to be in charge and he told me that there was a mix up but that he would make sure that my cheque was sent that week... and i waited and no cheque.
now, when I call they do not answer. I can not get anyone to pick up the phone and no money is coming.
The worst of it is that I found a web site for people who have been scammed by these people and they say that this is part of the scam. When I sent in my contracts and everything that the sales guy gave us we also sent them all of the evidence we could have used against them. Now, we can not even prove that we signed a contract.
Stay away from Chateau World.
