I bought a gift certificate from a bargain channel for $29.95 that was sponsored by Thrify Travel Club, 284 South Bradway St., Georgetown, Ky 40324. The Certificate reads... Certificate Good Towards 8 Day/7 Night Stay in Honolulu of Waikiki at the Outrigger Hotel & Resort includes round trip airfare for two include $14.95 for shipping & Handling. 90 Days to Activate w/$12.50 per person fee. 5 years expiration $459.00 per person surcharge for hotel & airfare responsible for taxes.

I sent Thrify Travel club, Georgetown, Ky. the $14.95 along with the certificate, they send me a vacation voucher from Fantastic Destinations, 207 Cullins, Bangs, Tx 76823. I sent them $25.00($12.50pp). Then I receive a Reservaton Request Form (RRF) from Bearcountry Vacations Incorporated, 8721 Santa Monica Blvd Ste 319, Los Angeles, Ca 90069-4507. I sent them $120.00($60.00pp).

I have several times emailed Bearcountry Vacations and there as been no responsed. I later heard they were filling bankrupty in California. I have search for Bankrupty for Bearcounty Vacations or Patrica Anderson have found nothing on them.

I then contacted Thrify Travel Club, Georgetown, Ky. Customer support Ticket ID 11.
I received the following answer:
Dear Janice, We will help you with your Hawaii vacation. Please look for my emails in this regard. Tim Leahy [email protected] 630-588-9141.

I emailed [email protected] :
I have received several emails from you but nothing on my vacation only to find advertising deals for traveling and information on being a travel agent.

I would like to know how you plan to help me with my Hawaii 7 night fly & stay vacation $449 pp?

I received the following answer:
With taxes it came to $707 pp (double occupancy required), and the only way we know of to travel at that price today is for you to take advantage of our Travel Agent Affiliate program. Otherwise, the cost for a Hawaii vacation today will be substantially higher.

If this makes sense to you, we will be happy to work with you. However, if you fail to comprehend this, then we cannot help you.
Tim Leahy

I emailed [email protected] :
Why are you claiming $707.00 per person? Your saying the taxes would be $258.00 per person. This can not be correct because I have a copy of a Certificate from you and Fantastic Destinations showing that it is $449 Per Person for Hotel & Airfare Responsible for Taxes. Bearcountry Reservation Request Form also states the same. I had sent you the orginial certificate along with $14.95 for shipping and handling and You sent me a form to paid Fantastic Destinations $25.00 ($12.50pp) to activate for 2 person. Then Fantastic Destinations sent me to Bearcountry Vactions to pay them $120.00 ($60.pp). The certificate reads: $14.00 per night per room and The Government Taxes $60.00 per person. So $14.00 x 7 = $98.00 120.00 ($60.00 PP) = $218.00. The grand total should only be $1116.00. I have already paid $14.95 to you, $25.00 to Fantastic Destinations, $120.00 To Bearcountry Vacations (Travel by Stamps, LLC.) and $29.95 to 92.1 WJXR Radio Station. This will make me paying a Total of $1305.90. The certificate also reads it is good for 5 years. What happened to the 5 years and Why did I have to pay all three of you? I feel I have been ripped off by all of you. I sent all of you money and now I have nothing in return. This is not right. Janice

Tim @ Thrifty Travel Club will not respond to any of my emails after the one above. I have sent him several email!

I have emailed Fantastic Destinations [email protected]
They responded with:
Travel by Stamps is also Bear Country. Thrifty Travel was an affiliate of Fantastic Destinations and Bear Country was the booking company for the vacations (one of many companies used by Bear Country). We were told by the owner in mid December that they were filing bankruptcy and all records had been turned in to a bankruptcy lawyer. I have also put many hours of research into this as the owner of Bear Country (also Travel by Stamps) personally stole from me $20, 000 (tricked me out of the money by having me put some of the vacations on my own card and they were sending in payments) that I am now having to come up with to a credit card. I have done my best to travel them down. Not to diminish your loss, but I wish I were only out under $500. This has been a huge disaster to my family. I cannot refund any monies not paid to Fantastic Destinations, but what I am offering you as a replacement is the 7 night condo stay, which is worth more than the $25 processing fee paid to FD.
