We signed a contract for vacation club services and was given assurance that we had ten days to give the lawyer time to revoke the contract if any illegalities were found, and then payment would be due. However, on the previous days before the 10 days had passed this company went into the Credit Card company and started to withdraw small amounts up to $1, 100 worth.
They had asked us to sign a credit card vocher from our credit card for the total amount as "an act of faith" when at the sales presentation. Also, they had not disclosed to us the fact that their registration with the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) had been revoked just previously. Without the registration of the Travel Industry Council of Ontario we could not apply for a claim for non delivered services from the travel agency. Also, when in the presentation we were told that Sun and Ski Vacation Club had as it's parent company Vacations in Paradice and showed us a picture of the offices on the main street of Collingwood.
It was reassuring to see this building as we left. We were told that company, Vacations In Paradice, had been sold, when talking on the phone the next day, a Sunday, with a representative and therefore had nothing to do with Sun and Ski Vacation Club. This was after we mentioned a consumer complaints re Vacations in Paradice. Which is how we found this web site! We should have checked here before we signed!
