I received a call from ETel Response on August 30, 2006 after filling out a ballot at the previous weekend's Busker Festival in Waterloo, Ontario.
I won the contest! "All expenses paid! VIP treatment! Executive suites! Five stars across the board! " After hearing all these wonderful things about the free vacation, they asked for certain information to verify my status as a contest winner. This information included my credit card number and expiry date! Of course, I realize what's happening (I pity any hapless senior citizens who don't get over the excitement of a trip to Florida in time to recognize the shadiness.)
They acknowledge that the credit card will be used to charge me the $798 US administration fee for the trip, but apparently that's what it means to verify me as a contest winner - CHARGING ME NEARLY A GRAND CANADIAN! Some contest.
I see from the message boards that I'm not the first to be hit up like this. I checked the call display on my phone - the number was 647-438-4324. I've no idea if they're the same guys at 615 Yonge, but it sounds just like the Imperial Majesty Vacations Aka Capitol Travel complaints filed on this site.
