I had asked Telus a few months back (August 2007) to cancel the dial up service I had with them for internet, there was no DSL in my area at the time. They told me it was all dealt with and discovered a week later that the service was still active and I was being billed for it. I called again, they assured me it would be deactivated and no longer be billed. A week later I checked and the internet service with them was still active.

I called again this time on August 28, 2007. I asked for them to disconnect our account (Telus - Internet Dept.). The rep on the line with their internet department asked me if I would stay, if I got a credit for three months on the dial up fees. We were planning on moving soon to an area that would have the DSL service with Telus and the representative told me if we stay with them for now, when we move, they will honor the free computer program if we do the three year service plan for DSL. Basically we pay $40.95 a month for Enhanced DSL, and we agree to three years, in turn Telus gives us a free computer (Lenovo 3000 IBM, 512 MB RAM, AMD Processor, key board mouse and DVD player, no burner). I told the rep I don't want them going back on their word, he said he can' t guarantee the brand name of the computer in the promo but will put a note on my account that if we sign up for the three years, we can still get the computer.

We're moving now and when I called to switch my service and take advantage of the plan, I am now told today by Telus that there is no record on my account on the free computer, the call or the conversation. They have the credit on there for us staying with them, but now saying the promotion for the free computer is now almost over, and since we got a free i-pod a few years ago in another promotion, we can not get the free computer. I told the rep today that they are attempting to rip me off, and that I would like to talk to the supervisor. SHe said she would have the supervisor call me back.

The supervisor in the Edmonton Office phoned me back and told me that the promotion is almost over and they just don't do it anymore. I told him that on August 28, 2007 the rep with the Telus internet department assured us that when we move we can get the computer still. The supervisor denied me the computer and said there is nothing I can do or telus the promotion is almost over. I told him I would be filing a complaint on this and he said, "Go ahead."

I am really disgusted with Telus and the way they lie to their customers. My kids were really looking forward to having the new computer for Christmas and I had to break the news to them tonight that Telus Lied to us and ripped us off. My 7 year old ran into his room crying saying, "Telus lied to us, I wanted a computer." Thanks for ruining our Christmas Telus.

The escalation number I got from their Supervisor at Telus is 273687.

I have had it with Telus I am filing a complaint with the CRTC on them.

Be very cautious when believing anything from Telus or taking advantage of any of their promotions, they like to change their mind all of a sudden a lie to you.

If Telus reads this or their lawyer, you shouldn't treat your customers like this, it is rude, unethical, and unprofessional way to do business.
