Lottery Scam Won$45000. They pay the taxes. St. Johns Rd. Newfoundland

I received a letter saying we have won the second draw in the lottery. They sent a check which was to pay the tax in the amount of $4975. We were told not to cash the check until we contacted an agent, but we have not done so. We are afraid if we cash the check they will find our account number out and clean us out.
