Glad to find out this is a scam

I received a letter with a check for $4700.00. The letter began with CONGRATULATIONS! In the letter was written that I was a winner of a Sweepstakes Lottery and it goes on to say that the names were drawn from a random computer ballot from stores in North America like Walmart, Sears, K-Mart, etc.

I called the phone # which does have the name of Jeff Phillips. A man with a strong middle eastern accent answered the phone. He told me to deposit the check in my bank and then call back for instructions as to where to send $2980. to pay the taxes.

I listened to him but once he was finished speaking, I asked him if this check was legitimate (3 times). Oh yes ma'am it is very legitimate.

I showed the check to my bank today and was told to be careful because they have seen scams like this before. I was encouraged to call the BBB to find out information about this company.

In searching the internet, I found this website (Rip off Report) with another report about this company. I am glad I did not feel secure about this check and decided to pursue a search.
