I received a letter saying I had won a Shoppers Sweepstake with a check for $4, 980, the sole purpose of the check was to pay applicable Government Taxes on my big winnings ($250, 000). They said the tax amount was $2, 995 to be paid by Moneygram or Western Union. That was the first clue, as if $2, 995 is going to cover the taxes for $250, 00.
The letter further stated that I was not to use the check until I called 1-416-827-3905. I called but the message box was full and was not accepting anymore messages.
It's a shame that these people may actually get some people to fall for this scam and they will lose their hard earned money. Not to say all the hassle they will have with their Bank when the check bounces.
These people should be highly fined and sent to jail, they can see if their scam will work on their cellmate, hopefully he will show them his gratitude when it doesn't.
