$4700 Check Scam

I received a check in the mail for $4700 that I was supposed to cash in order to receive the rest of the prize of $175, 300. I knew this was bogus right away so I did not cash it, so technically I am not a victim.

I did look up the name of the bank given on the check - Lake Erie A & T at 24811 Rockwell Drive, Euclid OH. There is no bank called Lake Erie A & T. The business at 24811 Rockwell Drive is Lake Erie Abrasive and Tool. I am assuming that it is a legitimate manufacturing company and innocent of the scam.

The scam letter itself has the letterhead of DBS Financial in New Brunswick, Canada. DBS Financial appears to be a legitimate company in the U.S. but has no Canadian offices.

With about 5 minutes work on Google, I was able to totally debunk this scam. So folks, do your research. It's easy nowdays with computers.
