I received a letter in the mail stating that I had won $38, 000 with a check enclosed for 3700. The letter had a claim # on it and a phone # where I could reach them. The number was a Canadian phone and the person there said to deposit the check and when the check cleared to call them back so I could write them a check for 2800 to cover insurance and processing fees as there were people who called who never got their money.
I talked to a friend of mine who told me that it was a scam so I did web search and didn't find anything and then called the bank that the check was drawn on and was told not to cash the check as they do not know where the check came from. There were also typos/misspellings in the letter.
