A company called virgin lottery sent me a letter informing me that i had won 88 thousand dollars. What made this beliveable was that when io called the number they sent they stated that i was to send no money that it would be taken out of the money i had won. what first made me suspicious was that they sent me the letter in a plain white regular envelope there was no return address just my name written in regular blue ink .not like an official company envelope where its printed up with everyones address like a power bill, electric bill, so when i spoke to them i was assured by the gentleman i spoke to that they were for real .he had a heavy indian accent a person from india, that is not a susspicion in itself alone, maybe he was new and was learning the trade, however he informed me that i would recieve the first of three checks by monday which was yesterday June24 2006.
yes i did recieve a check for 3, 280, 00 it looked official and real I was almost convinced by this but having been burned before i would see what they had to say. I was informed by letter to contact them letting them know i recieved it and to follow the instructions they would give me hey guess what I did not call them yesterday for it was after 5pm but i did call them this morning after 10 am, i got an answering machine with they same accented genleman i spoke with on friday. I left a message and my phone number, they haven't called back as of yet. I decided that i would verify the check they sent i got online and looked up the banks name KEYBANK NATIONAL ASSOCIATION .23250 PACIFIC HWY S KENT WA 98032 telephone number 1-301-880-0294 . the bank is a real bank however the address and phone number are not to the bank, to where my guess is a fake person with instructions which would have been take the check put it in my bank. the bank would have called the number on the check they would have verified it as a real check but that person is not affiliated with any bank real bank .ok once the check is verified i would have been told to then take the 3, 280.00 to a wire office western union or some such where i would have sent the money to where ever they wanted me to send it making me responsible for the fake check of 3, 280.00 plus all the fees of my own bank and we all know what that would mean all my money gone my own checks would bounce they would freeze my account.
once i learned that this was fake i called the local F.B.I office and reported this Scam. also i will be calling my local police department so that an advisory is put out on VIRGIN LOTTERY OF CANADA so no one will lose their own money. BE VERY AWARE THE CHECK LOOKS VERY REAL IF YOU SHOULD GET ONE FROM THESES PEOPLE CALL 1-800=223-7520 ITS TO THE REAL BANK ITS THEIR AUTOMATED CHECK VERIFICATION BUT I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO CALL 1-800-433-0124 THIS IS A LIVE PERSON A REAL TELLER OF THE BANK . THE CHECK IS BLUE AND WHITE
THE CHECK NUMBER IS 952339691 IN THE MEMO AREA IT SAYS (MICHAEL RIDEOUT) also the real check has a security built in that is not on the fake check call the Key national association ask them about it, or go to their bank site its very helpful .please verify all checks you recieve in the mail from lotterys and such, dont deposit them in your account, take it to the teller at the help desk first have them verify it
I dont want anyone to lose money and their own peace of mind, Winnings great we all know this, Dont feel bad or think that you are a fool for being taken in by these people, AS long as you verify the check thats sent to you, If you found out its a fake YOU STILL ARE A WINNER IN MY BOOK, YOU HAVE STOPPED THEM FROM TAKING YOUR MONEY AND CHEATING YOU of whats yours. Please let other people know what happened good or bad I hope i have helped some people out by giving them the information i have found out on this latest scam. EVEN if i haad fell for it i still would put out the word and if its helped even one person then i am still a winner in foiling theives In real life I would personally liked to hunt down the S.O.B.s and beat the crap out of them, but since I am not going to canada i can dream of it.
