I was asked by a guy for directions to the Calgary airport. After giving them to him he started a friendly chat and explained me the purpose of his trip to Calgary (we were at the parking lot of Westbrook mall). He explained that he was the manager of a store that sells and distributes "Armani" clothing and that he had a fashion show in the city the night before.
He also mentioned that he did not want to take all the clothing he was carrying with him back to Italy. He proceeded then to show me some leather jackets that according to him were from the "EMPORIO" collection 2006 of Armani and that every one of them were worth more than 1000 CAN$. He also said that he had many jackets at home and since summer was approaching in Italy nobody would buy them at this time of the year.
He proposed a deal to me and he asked for CAN$ 900 for the three jackets he shown to me. He also said that he doesn't like the idea of doing bussines on the street but he had this time constraint to go to the airport and he indeed showed me his plane ticket and passport. Thinking that I was doing a great deal and after trying them I accepted, I have to mention that the jackets looked really nice and can fool anybody that is not knowledgeable, besides the guy looked decent, in fact he was wearing a nice suit and he was in a rented SUV (blue and brand new, I can't recall the model).
After the purchase I did some research in the Internet about the Emporio collection of Armani and I came accross with this rip off site and I sadly found out that I was a victim of this scam artist. As additional information, he is 5ft 11" aprox (177cms) medium built, 40 to 45 yrs old, italian / mediterranean look, strong italian accent.
