Empty promises less than steller Service

I bought a laptop computer for my teenage son after 4 days it quit working. So after being told that everything was covered took it in to be looked at. First they told us that my son had installed something that they don't endorse and we would have gotten that info when we bought it along with the warranty info. We got nothing from them. Then they said that he had installed a game that was not vista compatable. When we showed them that they were compatable and no game installed was downloaded nor were any burned copies.

Then we had a virus that they couldn't name then when I asked for the name we were told it was spy ware. Then we were told that if we went on line we could get a virus anywhere and that it our fault for going to any site on the internet that could be hacked and a virus could be placed there. Seem nuts to suggest that if you go to any site they no longer have any part in the working of the computer. We were told that we would get a free upgrade for three years warranty but the invoice showed that we were charged 199.00 for this.

So it is my fault that something that they can't tell me what caused the computer to go down. So it seems a service employee can just say that it was your fault not really know what caused it and charge you. MDG unlike everyone else all sales are final no refunds or exchanges allowed even though if according to ontario law if the product is defective they have to give you your money back. We had bought from them before with no problems but after this experience we will not be replacing my husbands computer with the 2500 one he had them do an estimate for.

It must be nice to run a business that you can just tell the customer it is their fault with no hard facts and then charge them. I went in to the service depot with questions about how I could prevent this from happening and they told me to only go to sites that are approved through microsoft and the ones we went to were. So i guess if you want to use the warranty you can't install anything or go on-line at all. They will tell you anything to get your money then charge you for stuff they said was free (like the extended warranty) and say to bad now we have your money nothing you can do.

As well the service personel told us that an anti-virus program avg which is free and great is not good enough and we should use the one he says to use because if it is free it can't be any good. In there world if you aren't charging for it it must not be good. Their motto should be stick it to the little guy every way you can
