I feel it is my duty to tell my story.
I am a former employee of FAME Media Group / WNSO. I was laid off in June 2007 near the end of the month (along with 90% of their staff).
At the same time I was was given my notice, I was ALSO informed by Jeff that I would not reimbursed for the pay cheque that had bounced earlier that month AND I would NOT be receiving final pay.
Reason given, FAME Toronto did not do as well as expected and they "just don't have enough money to pay staff, vendors, PR agencies at this time".
Take this month as your vacation and well talk in a month. I was left with no money for the past month and no money coming in for the following.
Mortgage payments, phone bills etc would now go unpaid due to the lack of financial planning on and professionalism FAME's part.
Within a week FAME media group had posted the following words on their website "HUGE growth and improvement and bigger and better things to come."
I emailed Jeff asking if the posting meant all was good and I would be paid for the last month I worked. I received an email from Jeff stating nothing had changed financially and to wait a few weeks.
Well my friends, weeks turned into months. I RECEIVED NOTHING.
The website continued to boost about all the good things that are coming up which to me added a tremendous insult to injury.
To this day Jeff and Mindy still claim they do not have the funds to pay old employees even though it is clear they are moving full steam ahead with FAME
(not to mention adding a new employee to the roster).
I share this story for those people who believe the stories posted about Cheryl being a "disgruntled employee".
If the definition of disgruntled employee means a one who demands what she/he has earned, then so be it! I too am disgruntled.
Don't get caught up in stories that Fame Media Group creates.
