Finished Basements STCO.COM has not completed contract. Has not been to the property for over a month. Meant to be 6 week job has now been 5 months. Calls and texts not answered.
Finished Basements SCTO contracted with us to do a Basement Renovation which started at the beginning of April 2015. They encountered a number of problems two weeks into the contract that they really should have planned for, i.e. you can not put a breaker panel near water which meant the hydro stack had to be moved. This was eventually done after a protracted period as it was reliant on Toronto Hydro Inspection. Up until around 5 July, all seemed to be getting back on track, however since then we have not had progress on the project. The contract is unfinished and the Contractor (Jerome Sammy) does not answer our calls. He did contact us about 3 weeks ago asking to be paid in advance for completion of the contract which I did not agree to do as there is still outstanding contract work to be done: Cabinets to be built $9000 and the Washroom not completed (no vanity, no shower head or control valve), carpet not on stairs. All these items are in the contract. There was a progressive payment schedule which I met 100%.
So Jerome Sammy what about the contract that you started for me and over 5 months later have not completed despite me paying 10% deposit on time and all installments as agreed. A 6 week project and event allowing for a significant overrun, this has now gone on for over 5 months!!! Sammy does not respond to our calls and has made a number of promises about 4 weeks ago that the Shower and carpeting would be done. It is 122 Sep today and the carpet has not been finished neither has the washroom, cabinets or deficiency list. About 6 weeks ago I gave Finished Basements a date of 4 September to complete the work and still it has not been completed. Sammy is always other to pick up his cheque when it is due but does not answer his phone or respond to texts. It would appear they are not going to complete the work. He promised to be at the property on Monday 21 Sep and did not turn, did not let us know why not and has not responded to a number of texts we have left for him.
The outstanding balance that is owed when the work is completed is $12306. I have signed receipts for all payments. I think you will agree that there would appear no impediment to have to work completed except for the Contractor scheduling it and actually being at the property to do so.
